Perfect Mushroom Toast - 4 Ingredients

I used to hate mushrooms. They're mushy, slimy, and just gross. That is until I learned how to cook them the right way. Use this method and you'll get crispy, tasty, savory mushrooms every time. Serve with some freshly sliced bread and with just 4 ingredients and 15 minutes, you're in for one of the most satisfying, flavor packed dishes you've experienced in a long while.

 

 

 

Prep time: 5 minutes

 

Cook time: 10 minutes

 

Serves: 2-4

 

 

 

Ingredients

 

  • 1 quart of Baby Bella Mushrooms

  • 2 tbsp neutral oil (garlic chili oil recommended)

  • 1 tsp fresh herbs - rosemary, mint, or basil work best

  • 1 tsp Earth Balance

 

 

 

Instructions

 

  • Clean mushrooms with a wet paper towel (do not rinse)

  • Slice mushrooms into roughly quarter inch slices

  • Place a large fry pan on high heat and add 2 tbsp of oil

  • Add mushrooms to pan and spread evenly in a single layer (do not over crowd the pan - overcrowding will result in soggy, wet mushrooms vs. crisp and firm)

  • Cook on high heat until mushrooms have browned on one side (usually about 5 minutes)

  • Carefully flip all mushrooms and cook for an additional 2 minutes

  • Add 1 tsp of earth balance, and tsp of soy sauce and stir to coat

  • Remove from heat and add fresh herbs

  • Serve with sliced bread
